Make Your Morning Count

Make Your Morning Count!

Being a mom can sometimes make the morning not flow the way you want it to.  Try to squeeze as many of these in before your mornings get completely chaotic. Making your morning count will leave you feeling unbelievably accomplished!

Be Productive
Here is a list of things to do to help you get going in the morning.

Drink Up

Benefits of drinking water first thing in the morning:

  • Kick starting your metabolism
  • Fighting the dehydration
  • Flushing your body of toxins
  • Eating less

I cannot stress enough the benefits of drinking water.  I try to drink at least 90 ounces a day.  I look at it as a challenge and try to knock it out earlier rather than later.  If I complete my 90 ounces early I am less likely to wake up throughout the night to use the restroom.  Plus if you complete your goal amount early on, all the other ounces you intake are bonus ounces!

One thing I have found useful is a good water bottle to help track my water intake.  I strongly dislike using disposable water bottles, the cost is high if you are sticking to 90+ ounces a day.  Plus I feel there is a plastic like taste.  I have multiple reusable water bottles.  I have listed some of my favorites below!

1. Pogo BPA-Free Plastic Water Bottle with Chug Lid, 32 oz    ***Low cost and an add on through Amazon for less than $4 if you’re not picky about a color

2. Chooby 2.2 Litre(74OZ) Drinking Bottle- Water Jug    ***The Big One

Wake up Timely

I try to keep my body as happy as possible.  Sticking with a sleep routine is an easy way to achieve a better morning.  I know this is easier said than done.  Your body will grow used to the schedule and your internal alarm will start to tell you, “Time for Bed” and “Time to wake up”.  So a huge benefit here is for those mornings your alarm fails you, your body will rescue you!

Eat Breakfast

Some of the benefits of eating breakfast:

  • Breakfast foods tend to be full of nutrients
  • Improve concentration
  • Improve performance
  • Boosts your energy level

I eat a healthy breakfast every morning.  I usually make a smoothie and drink it on my way to work.  There are plenty of mornings I do not find the time to make a smoothie and I have some backup plans like oatmeal or an English muffin with peanut butter.  As long as I eat something I feel better compared to the mornings I skip breakfast.

Stretch a Little

This one is the hardest for me to remember.  I want to find time, I always try to find time, but often fail.  I prefer Yoga poses so these are the top 5 I do in the morning.  I like these the best because I can do them on my bed.

Yoga Poses:

  • Wide leg child pose
  • Cat to cow pose
  • Seated spinal twist
  • Spinal twist
  • Fish pose

I do most of these poses in bed.  The other option is to get yourself a Yoga Mat.  I have one in my favorite color as extra motivation to get up and stretch!

Listen to Music

Music makes me smile.  Sometimes music is the only medicine my heart and soul need to set my mood for day.

  1. These all sound so simple – yet I have a heck of a time doing them. Particularly eating breakfast. I really need to start getting up before the girls so I can have myself put together before they wake up!
